BRUNSWICK — Hassan Hussein drained the final of his four 3-pointers during the waning seconds, giving Lewiston a 62-61 lead over Brunswick, which led to a 63-61 Blue Devils victory Tuesday.
Hussein’s 25 points led the Blue Devils (1-3).
Finn Mitchell had 20 points for Brunswick (2-2), Noah Cox 14 and Noah Goddard 12.
Leavitt 65, Mt. Blue 62
FARMINGTON — Junior center Cole Morin poured in a game-high 22 points to lead Leavitt to a 65-62 triumph over Mt. Blue in boys’ basketball action Tuesday evening.
The contest remained nip-and-tuck throughout, without either team taking any serious lead over the other. Senior guard Wyatt Hathaway hit 3-of-5 from the free throw line in the final minutes and collected 19 game points to help the Hornets (4-0) come out on top.
James Anderson attempted a 3-pointer at the buzzer for the Cougars (3-1), but missed. Sophomore guard Jacob Farnum posted 20 points, while senior guard Garrett Reynolds added 17 for Mt. Blue in the losing effort.
Boothbay 58, Dirigo 46
DIXFIELD — Steve Reny had 18 points as Boothbay defeated Dirigo in an MVC boys’ basketball contest Tuesday.
Benjamin Pearce chipped in 17 points for the Seahawks (4-0).
Jeremy St. Germain led the Cougars (1-3) with 23 points and 11 rebounds. Mateo Lapointe contributed nine points in the losing cause.
Monmouth 57, Lisbon 54
MONMOUTH — Senior guard Dylan Lajoie tossed a team-high 15 points to lead a balanced attack as Monmouth hung on for a 57-54 victory over Lisbon in boys’ basketball action Tuesday evening.
The Mustangs (2-3) played even in the first two quarters for a 26-26 tie at halftime. Connor Davies contributed 14 points and Gabe Martin chipped in 12, and Monmouth cruised to a 12-point lead after three quarters.
But the Greyhounds (1-3) attempted to bounce back in the final minutes as senior guard Corey Wiers posted nine points down the stretch. DJ Douglass led Lisbon with with an impressive game-high 28 points in the losing effort.
NYA 58, Buckfield 47
BUCKFIELD — Te’Andre King had 39 points to lead North Yarmouth Academy to a 58-47 victory over Buckfield in boys’ basketball action Tuesday.
Bryce Poulin chipped in eight points for the Panthers.
Tyler Gammon led the Bucks (0-4) with 17 points and Noah Wiley had nine.
Oxford Hills 58, Lawrence 49
FAIRFIELD — Kobe Nadeau scored 17 points but it wasn’t enough for the Bulldogs, who fell to the the Vikings in a KVAC boys’ basketball game Tuesday.
Colton Carson led Oxford Hills (1-3) with 19 points, while Spencer Strong added 15.
Jackson Dudley scored eight points and Adam Duprey and Gavin Herrin each scored seven points for Lawrence (0-4).
Temple 49, Rangeley 37
WATERVILLE — Marko Ajaz and Ilija Ivkovic scored 10 points apiece to lead the Bereans to the East/West Conference boys’ basketball victory Tuesday.
Nathaniel Wiles scored eight points off the bench and hit two late free throws to ice the game for Temple (3-1), which trailed 20-17 at halftime.
Nolan Boone and Ian Lillis scored 12 points each for Rangeley (2-1)
Girls’ basketball
Brunswick 61, Lewiston 47
LEWISTON — Charlotte MacMillan had 18 points as Brunswick defeated Lewiston 61-47 in a KVAC girls’ basketball contest Tuesday.
Marley Groat had 12 points for the Dragons (4-0), while Logan Brown had 11 points.
Emily Strachan led all scorers with 23 points for the Blue Devils (0-4), and Madeline Foster had 16.
Edward Little 53, Mt. Ararat 28
AUBURN — Edward Little took control from the start in a 53-28 girls’ basketball rout of Mt. Ararat on Tuesday.
Three Red Eddies (3-1) scored in double figures, led by Jade Perry and Hannah Chaput with 13 points apiece. Grace Fontaine added 11 points.
Alexa Eaton topped the Eagles (1-3) with seven points in the loss.
Gray-NG 51, NYA 45
NORTH YARMOUTH — Briana Jordan scored 13 points and Jordan Grant added 12 and the Patriots (4-0) used a big run in the second quarter to get past the Panthers (2-2) in North Yarmouth.
Mikaela Ryan chipped in 10 points for Gray-New Gloucester, which outscored North Yarmouth 14-4 in second to take a 30-16 lead heading into halftime.
Catherine Reid scored a game-high 16 points for the Panthers. Serena Mower added 13.
Greely 77, Poland 14
POLAND — Senior point guard Anna DeWolfe poured in a game-high 26 points as Greely zipped past Poland 77-14 in girls’ basketball action Tuesday evening.
The Rangers (4-0) dominated on offense in all four quarters. Camille Clement scored 17 points, while Brooke Obar added 16 points for Greely.
Knights freshman point guard Allison Ferland tallied a team-leading five points in the losing effort.
Oxford Hills 57, Lawrence 31
PARIS — Julia Colby drained a game-high 21 points to lead Oxford Hills to a 57-31 victory over Lawrence in girls’ basketball action Tuesday evening.
The Vikings (4-0) were leading 31-27 after three quarters then turned up the tempo and went on a 26-4 run in the final period. Cecelia Dieterich pitched in with 11 points for Oxford Hills.
Brooklyn Lambert and Keagan Alley produced nine points each for the Bulldogs (2-2) in the losing effort.
Rangeley 52, Temple 49, OT
WATERVILLE — Rangeley rallied back from 26 points down to defeat Temple 53-51 in overtime in an East/West Conference girls’ basketball contest Tuesday.
Freshman Winnie LaRochelle led the Lakers (4-1) with 22 points. Lauren Eastlack scored 10 points, and Brooke Egan contributed six points, seven steals and four assists.
Deleyni Carr scored a game-high 30 points for Temple (2-2), and Hannah Hubbard added 13 points.
