DEAR SUN SPOTS: My granddaughter just got a new 3-in-1 black and pink winter jacket which she wore to Elm Street School on Friday, Nov. 30. This jacket has gone missing so I’m wondering if perhaps another child went home with it by mistake. If so, please return it to the school. It would be so greatly appreciated. Thank you.

— Natalie, Mechanic Falls

ANSWER: Ugh! I know this feeling. My grandchildren seem to leave a trail of their stuff far and wide. Baseball mitts, winter gloves, sneakers, books … it’s frustrating. Since kids often have the same things because parents shop at the same stores, a mistake of ownership can be easily made. Keep checking the school’s lost and found and let your granddaughter’s teacher as well as the school secretary know this item is among the missing. If the school has a newsletter and website, this is also a good way to get the word out!

DEAR SUN SPOTS: Androscoggin Home Healthcare + Hospice is having our holiday remembrance ornament sale. We recognize that honoring and remembering loved ones is important in the healing process. This year’s remembrance ornament is a handcrafted pewter dove. We add your loved one’s name on a customized tag and ribbon and include a gift bag.

This is a great way to remember someone during the holidays each and every year. All proceeds help us in our mission to serve all patients who cannot afford hospice and home care while also supporting services for families who are grieving. Orders may be placed online at Androscoggin.org, or by calling 207-795-9407.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: I am a fifth-grade student at Cascade Christian Schools and I am writing a report on the state of Maine. We are responsible for gathering as much information as we can about our assigned state. If any readers would like to help me by sending any pictures, postcards, used license plates, facts, products, etc., to Ciara at Cascade Christian School, 601 9th Ave. S.E. Puyallup, WA, 98372, it would be greatly appreciated! Thank you very much.

— Ciara, Puyallup, WA

ANSWER: I love when students do this! You can be pt of this project by sending a Maine token of some kind. Be clever, creative and let’s help this fifth-grader get an A!

DEAR SUN SPOTS: Freddie Hart, the country western singer, died not too long ago. Could you tell me his age and when he passed away?

— Jan, Peru

ANSWER: Freddie died on Oct. 27, 2018 of pneumonia. He was three months shy of his 92nd birthday. He was inducted into the Alabama Music Hall of Fame and is best known for his song “Easy Loving” which was released in 1970 and went on to be No. 1 on the country music charts for three weeks and was a solid gold hit, selling over a million copies and earning Freddie several top awards.

The performer’s successful career included many major hits on the country music, pop and easy listening charts. Later in life, he wrote and recorded many gospel tunes and toured the U.S. and Europe right up until just a few months before he passed away.
