LEWISTON — Andrew McCormick scored two goals and had an assist to lead the L/A Nordiques to a 5-2 NA3HL junior hockey victory over the Cape Cod Islanders on Saturday evening at the Androscoggin Bank Colisee.
Sergei Anisimov and McCormick sandwiched first-period goals around Scotty Hogan’s tally for the Islanders (5-21) to give L/A a 2-1 lead.
Cole Therrien evened the game at 2-2 in the second period for Cape Cod, converting an assist from Leevi Kervinen.
The Nordiques (27-1) came out with a bit more zeal in the third period and got goals from Colby Audette, McCormick and Trent Sheldon to neatly wrap up their 27th game and 15th consecutive win. The Nordiques have one more game remaining before heading to Minnesota for the NA3HL showcase.
Scrappy Kyle Secor laid the groundwork for another two goals with his 29th and 30th assists of the season.
Goalie Parker Orchard saw a barrage of shots and made 57 saves for Cape Cod, while goalie Hunter Raye made seven saves on nine shots to earn the win in net for the L/A Nordiques.
