What to expect: With only two key losses from a year ago, the Edward Little girls’ team returns several top scoring athletes across all events from its third place KVAC finish last year. The boys’ side loses five major scorers, so the Eddies will be looking to younger athletes to step up in 2018-19.

Gray-New Gloucester Patriots

Coach: Todd Mercer (12th year)

Conference: WMC; Class: B

Last year’s results: Boys — Fourth in WMC, 12th in state championship; Girls — Third in WMC, 14th in state championship.

Returning athletes: Seniors — Madison Post, Megan Reynolds, Erica Schlchting, Nate Gendreau; Juniors — Nick Cohen, Lindsay Pierce, Jasmine French, Scott Lynch, Jacob MacCallum; Sophomores — Caitlyn Smith, Tyler Amos, Madison Soul.

Key losses: Nicole Cobb, Jaley Martin, Erica Larrivee, Andrew Peterson.

What to expect: The Gray-New Gloucester indoor track team is gearing up for what looks to be another successful WMC contender this year. Throws and sprints will be relied on heavily this year as the Patriots are looking to see who will step up in the jumps and hurdles. Relays also look to be strong even though Gray-NG will have to fill a couple spots from a year ago.

Leavitt Hornets

Coach: Jamie Juntura (First year)

What to expect: Leavitt has resurrected the indoor track team after going years without one. Jamie Juntura takes over the reigns of a team that has great numbers in its first year. Based on the outdoor season last year, Juntura believes he has a lot of talent to work with as well as promising underclassmen.

Lewiston Blue Devils

Coach: Paul Soracco (fifth year)

Last year’s results: Boys — Third in KVAC, 16th in state championship; Girls — Fourth in KVAC, 11th in state championship.

Returning athletes: Lucas Nichols, Enock Citenga, Crispin Kamandula, Moubarek Abdourahman, Asad Abukar, Maurice Beaulieu, Gabe Labonte, Maria Bellegarde, Zaid Teklu, Chelsea Beaudry, Katrina Bolduc, Benedict Citenga, Laila Bunnitt.

Key losses: Connor Kaplinger, Davion Jackson, Abbas Muktar, Isiah Leach, Taylor Chamberlain, Anna Andres Serpe.

What to expect: Lewiston returns many athletes from a successful in-conference season a year ago. With talent across the board, both the boys’ and girls’ teams return strong athletes across the event board. The boys’ team will look to improve on its third-place finish with “improved depth.”

Lisbon/St. Dominic Academy

What to expect: The St. Dom’s/Lisbon co-op is in its first year as a full, point-scoring team after practicing together last year. The distance events and shot put seem to be where the new team will succeed the most. Head coach Dean Hall is excited about the team’s work ethic heading into the winter.

Oxford Hills Vikings

Conference: KVAC; Class: A

Last year’s results: Boys: Eighth in KVAC, 25th in state championship; Girls: Ninth in KVAC.

Returning athletes: Rachel Chase, Abigail Cassidy, Jordyn Gates, Megan Bickford, Halle James.

Key losses: Dominic Sclafani, Taylor Haggerty

Promising newcomers: Trevor Ward, Andy Whynot, Ayden St. Laurent, Kaylynn Johnson, Alexander Wood, Stephan Lachapelle, Harrison Hartnett.

What to expect: After beginning as a club team last season, Oxford Hills joins the KVAC as a first-year team. The Vikings lose two huge contributors last season in Dominic Sclafani and Taylor Haggerty, however they return six athletes and add seven newcomers to the team. Oxford Hills believes there is “a significant amount of up-and-coming talent” on this year’s team.

Poland Knights

Coach: Rick Kramer (fifth year)

Conference: WMC; Class: B

Last year’s results: Boys: Ninth in WMC; Girls: Fifth in WMC, 27th in state championship.

Returning athletes: Seniors — Sam Benedict, Jacob Gagnon, Gavin Russo, Sophia Martin; Juniors — Ben Pittman, Matt Walker, Kayla Ogden, Nevaeh Longchanps, Faith Davis, Karley O’Leary, Mia Turkington, Autumn Willis; Sophomores — Tim Brienza, Alexis Antonelli, Madison Wante, Halie Vachon.

What to expect: The Poland Knights are excited about their prospects this season, as they’ll rely on their throwers to be strong. Poland also believes its freshmen and sophomore runners are promising and hope to develop some more field event athletes. Twenty freshmen join the Knights this winter to help build a successful foundation.
