Celeste Hotham gives her 4-year-old son, Ari, a kiss after he and his prekindergarten class sang for their families at Sherwood Heights Elementary School in Auburn on Thursday. Ari Hotham and his classmates invited family members to their Friendship Feast, where students served homemade soup, bread and butter. Jen Libby has made the Friendship Feast an annual event for the 20 years she has been a prekindergarten teacher. The premise of the day is based on a lesson in the book “Stone Soup” that “when you give a little bit, we all benefit,” Libby said. The feast was canceled twice this school year because of snow days, she said. “Otherwise, we would have made the bread, too.” (Daryn Slover/Sun Journal)
