KINGFIELD — The kickoff to the holiday season, the annual Kingfield Tree Lighting, will be held Saturday, Dec. 1.
From 2-4 p.m. children can shop for gifts at Webster Hall, 15 School St. For a token donation, children can pick out and wrap gifts for family and friends. Children should arrive with a list of those to purchase gifts for. Gift items have been donated by community members.
Webster Library, 22 Depot St., will host story hour beginning at 4 p.m. Children will also have the opportunity to write a letter to Santa.
The tree lighting begins at the junction of Maple and Cedar streets at 5 p.m. Participants can walk or hitch a ride on Kendrick Charles’ horse-drawn wagon to the center of town, lighting trees and singing carols along the way.
Following the tree lighting, a live Nativity will take place on Depot Street. The Yellow Ribbon tree will be decorated to honor those who won’t be home for Christmas.
The highlight of the evening will take place at the Masonic Hall, 250 Main Street. Santa and Mrs. Claus will arrive by fire truck to visit with children and families. Elves will also be on hand to help serve fresh cookies.
