LEWISTON — Maine Event Comedy’s Tightest Five comedy contest returns to Bear Bones Beer with the semifinal round at 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 15.
Mark Turcotte will host as the comedians perform their best five minutes of original material with five advancing to the finals. Along with bragging rights, the winner’s prize package includes paid work, professional headshots and craft beer.
The semifinal round will include Andrew Della Volpe of Concord, Massachusetts; Leonard Kimble of Auburn; Chris Kinback of South Boston; Scott MacNeil of N. Billerica, Massachusetts; Jim Martin of Portland; Will Martin of Boston; Daniel McRobbie of Cambridge, Massachusetts; Julie Poulin of Monmouth; Ellen Sugarman of Brookline, Massachusetts; and Brendan Williams of South Portland.
Johnny Ater will be the evening’s featured comedian. Whether he’s taking light-hearted swipes at himself and his fellow Mainers, or contorting his face into hilarious characters, Ater has left audiences laughing throughout New England and beyond since 2003. He’s performed at the Punchline in San Francisco, headlined the Maine Comedy Festival and recently provided voice-over work for an Agren Appliance television campaign.
The finals on will take place Dec. 20. A comedy open-mic will follow each round.
