DEAR SUN SPOTS: The community served by Rumford Hospital is in need of medical equipment in good working condition. Many people in our community are coming into the Rumford Hospital without insurance and are unable to pay for equipment that they need for safe discharges to their homes. The Rumford American Legion is willing to pick up, store and redistribute this equipment to people in need within our community. Equipment needs are: walkers, rollator walkers, canes, hemi-walkers, crutches, hospital beds, commodes, tub benches or tub seats, raised toilet seats, bed railings and wheelchairs.

If you would like to donate any of the above equipment, you can drop it off at the American Legion, 184 Congress St., Rumford. If you are unable to drop off the equipment you can call Holly Rivard or Louise Arsenault at Rumford Hospital Physical Therapy, 207-369-1099, to make arrangements for pick-up.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: A few days ago after returning from a five-day trip, I stopped at Hannaford in Auburn to pick up a few items before going home. As I started to pay for my purchases, the clerk waved me off, informing me that the very kind gentleman before me had already paid. It took quite a few seconds for me to comprehend it as I was stunned. What a nice, generous thing to do! Mr. Whoever you are, thank you so much and I shall pay it forward.
