AUBURN — Roger’s Haircutters at 94 Main St. will be hosting a weeklong open house to celebrate owner Roger Blais’ 50 years in business.
In 1968, Blais started Roger’s Barber Shop next to the Blue Goose on Sabattus Street in Lewiston, adding to his status as a guitar player in the local rock ‘n’ roll band The Innkeepers by also becoming a master barber, stylist and business owner.
Seven years later he moved the business to its current location. The barbershop lamp that was used by Roger’s grandfather still works and can be seen in the salon’s entrance. It is lit up every day the salon is open for business.
As a gesture of appreciation to the shop’s customers and in honor of 50 years of service to the community, Roger and his fellow stylists and master barbers at the shop will host the open house from Nov. 12 to 17 during business hours. The public is encouraged to drop by, meet the staff and exchange stories of days gone by.
