DEAR SUN SPOTS: I know you’ve printed this list before but I never saved it. Where are the gas stations in Lewiston-Auburn that pump gas for you? Thanks for all your invaluable research.

— Joan, Turner

ANSWER: If you are disabled, the Americans with Disabilities Act requires that gas station personnel help you fill your vehicle’s tank at no extra charge. Also, most places will assist if you just ask. You may have to wait a few moments, but most gas station attendants can be very helpful, especially if treated respectfully and with kindness.

When I checked with these businesses a few months ago, both Berube’s Gas Station at 147 East Ave. in Lewiston and Poisson’s Citgo at 260 South Main St. in Auburn will pump your gas. Readers, do you have other current recommendations?

As far as saving Sun Spots tips and tricks goes, I’d like to suggest that all our wonderful readers create a handy folder for those cut-out columns. I found some great plastic accordion folders at The Dollar Store that are multi-colored and in various sizes. They are perfect for keeping your Sun Spots organized and all in one place!

DEAR SUN SPOTS: I own an old book, a favorite classic from my childhood that needs a new binding. Is there someone from the Lewiston-Auburn area who could repair this?

— No name, Greene

ANSWER: The two places I can recommend are in Portland.

Carlson Turner Antiquarian (carlsonturnerbooks.com) is at 241 Congress St. The contact information is 207-773-4200 and codex@maine.rr.com. Strong Arm Bindery is at 58 Fore St. # 8. Their contact information is 207-879-4672 (strongarmbindery@gmail.com). Both of these businesses were recommended to me by the wonderful librarians at Lewiston Public Library.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: I’m looking for someone to clean or repair my old Pioneer CD player within 30 miles of Lewiston.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: I wonder if anyone fixes small lamps. I have a table lamp that needs a switch or may have another electrical problem. This lamp is very sentimental to me and I hope someone is able to fix it. Thank you.

ANSWER: I am appealing to all those with electronic/electrical handyman skills in Sun Spots Land. Your services are sorely needed! Our readers, especially those who are seniors, often need a small repair to their stereos, lamps, kitchen gadgets and other small appliances. There is a lamp repair shop at 105 Ocean St. in South Portland (207-799-9159) but is there one closer?

Please write to Sun Spots if you have a recommendation or are willing to help out. I will add this information to the Sun Spots Rolodex and spread the word. Thank you!

DEAR SUN SPOTS: Do you have a list of people who rototill gardens? We have a small garden we would like to have done this fall and again in the spring. Thank you.

— Laurie, no town

ANSWER: I would like to fatten up the Rolodex with those who provide spring and fall gardening services. If you do this type of work or have a recommendation, please write to me ASAP.
