DEAR SUN SPOTS: I’m writing in response to the person looking for massage therapists (Sept. 25 Sun Spots). I’m a licensed massage therapist with a small practice in Lewiston and can be reached at 207-333-9162 or at optimaltouch@gmail.com.
— Janine, Lewiston
DEAR SUN SPOTS: Please add my phone number to your Rolodex for those looking to have their driveways plowed in the Auburn area (Oct. 23 Sun Spots). I can be contacted at 207-782-6042.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: The American Legion Auxiliary is renting tables to crafters for its annual holiday fair from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 17. Join us at 15 Lewiston Road in Gray. The cost per table is $25. All checks can be made payable to ALA Unit 86, PO Box 428, Gray, ME 04039. Contact Nancy True at 207-653-3886 or Mary Brushwein at 207-784-8551 for more information.

ANSWER: As always, Mrs. Sun Spots loves to publish information about your fundraiser IF you need crafters, volunteers, donations of goods, or have a question. (For example, “where can we rent a popcorn machine for our event?” Or “we need donations of costume jewelry for our dress-up table.”)
If you just want readers to be aware of an event so they will attend, that announcement would go to Community News at communitynews@sunjournal.com.
Another helpful tip: please send your announcement about your event in paragraph form in an email or WORD attachment if at all possible. Copies of posters with graphics and fonts are pretty, but we can’t publish your well-polished poster in Sun Spots because of our column format.
Another word to my wonderful readers: Sun Spots is not the place to vent. Always do your best to communicate with the organization or business you’re having an issue with. It’s the right thing to do.
DEAR SUN SPOTS: I have been getting requests for money from “National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund” in Washington D.C. Is this just another scam? I get a lot of requests for money from different charities. Most go up in flames.
Thank you for all your amazing help for so many. We can always depend on you.
— No name, Turner
ANSWER: My rule of thumb is to not give a donation to a charitable organization if you aren’t familiar with it. It’s totally fine to simply say, “No … and please stop calling me.” You can also stop mailed requests by writing to the organization and asking to be taken off the mailing list. There is no need to feel guilty.
As for this particular organization, it’s legit. For information, call 202-737-3400 or write to them at National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund Office, 901 E St., NW, Suite 100, Washington, DC 20004-2025.
DEAR SUN SPOTS: I’m looking for someone who buys vintage Valentine’s Day cards. I have some that are dated back to the early 1900s.
— No name, no town
ANSWER: I’m putting the word out to all readers in the area who may be collectors. You may have the best results by selling the cards individually on eBay. If you need help with that, Goin’ Postal in Auburn provides this service at a reasonable cost. You can call them at 207-784-9900.
This column is for you, our readers. It is for your questions and comments. There are only two rules: You must write to the column and sign your name (we won’t use it if you ask us not to). Please include your phone number. Letters will not be returned or answered by mail, and telephone calls will not be accepted. Your letters will appear as quickly as space allows. Address them to Sun Spots, P.O. Box 4400, Lewiston, ME 04243-4400. Inquiries can also be emailed to sunspots@sunjournal.com.
