FARMINGTON — A man accused of hitting a woman with his car door after she complained about his erratic driving near a bus stop on Brickyard Road on Tuesday remained in jail Thursday evening, according to authorities.
Alan Eaton, 40, of Farmington was arrested Wednesday on misdemeanor charges of assault and terrorizing, Deputy Chief Shane Cote said Thursday. A corrections officer at Franklin County Detention Center said Thursday evening that Eaton was there. His bail was set at $250 cash.
According to police officer Darin Gilbert’s report, a woman waiting at a school bus stop at Brickyard Road and Oakes Street asked a man, later identified as Eaton, to stop driving erratically on the dead-end Brickyard Road because children would be getting off a school bus, Cote said.
She told police the man got out of his car, bumped into her, then hit her with his car door when he opened it. She said he went to his nearby home and verbally threatened her while she called 911, Cote said, citing the police report.
A conviction on each of the charges is punishable by up to 364 days in jail.
