LEWISTON — L/A Arts is pleased to invite the public to the last Art Walk LA of the year. The Friday, Oct. 26, Art Walk in downtown Lewiston and Auburn will feature storytelling at select venues, along with the usual complement of visual art exhibits and gallery receptions that characterize every Art Walk LA.

October’s storytelling-themed event will feature John Bear Mitchell, Penobscot storyteller; the Best of The Corner, with short, original, first-person stories by several local tellers; Halloween stories read by Bates College students; and the photography and stories of Ned Castle’s “HIGHLOW Project,” a collaboration between the artist and youth served by the Vermont Coalition of Runaway Homeless Youth programs (co-sponsored by New Beginnings). 

The schedule is:

“HIGHLOW Project: Photographs & Stories of Youth At Risk” — 5 to 8 p.m., L/A Arts Gallery, 221 Lisbon St. (Please note there are mature themes and some explicit language.)

Halloween Story Time with Bates Students — 5:30 to 6 p.m., Lewiston Public Library, 200 Lisbon St.

Penobscot Storyteller John Bear Mitchell — 6 to 6:30 p.m., Rinck Advertising, 113 Lisbon St.

The Best of The Corner, original short stories from local storytellers — 6:30 to 7 p.m., Rinck Advertising, 113 Lisbon St. (Please note there will be some adult content.)

“Things My Mother Taught Me,” an intergenerational comedy — 7:30 p.m., The Public Theatre, 31 Maple St. Tickets are required for this event. Visit thepublictheatre.org or call 207-782-3200.
