FRYEBURG — The Pace Galleries of Art will host the opening reception for Inside and Out: Landscapes and Still Life Paintings by Jon Marshall from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 26. Admission is free and light refreshments will be served.
The “inside” part of the show is comprised mainly of still lifes and works from the imagination, while the “outside” is a collection of scenes from Maine, the Catskills of New York and the Canadian Maritimes.
Marshall paints in a classical realist manner, inspired by the 17th century Dutch and 19th century Hudson River school painters, sometimes employing a more contemporary twist as he integrates the painting composition into his frames.
He is a graduate of Massachusetts College of Art, has been represented by galleries nationwide, the founding Artist in Residence at the Denmark Arts Center for nine years, and a May Term oil painting instructor at Fryeburg Academy for five years.
Marshall resides and works in Denmark with his wife, Kristi, and their children, who are Fryeburg Academy alumni and students.
Following the opening, the exhibit will be open to the public Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. when Fryeburg Academy is in session.
To schedule a viewing at a different time, call the box office at 207-935-9232 or email boxoffice@fryeburgacademy.org.
