All charges have been dropped that had arisen from a parking lot fight where Penobscot Indian Nation Chief Kirk Francis, his sons, and former Tribal Council member Robert Dana.
The fight had taken place in the parking lot of the Penobscot Pour House in January, where Francis, his sons Kirk Jr. and Dana, all had been. According to reports Dana and Francis had been at loggerheads for some time over governance of the tribe, and that led to the parking lot incident.
Assault and disorderly conduct charges had been filed against all four individuals, but the counts against Kurt Francis Sr. were dropped in July; the charges against his sons were dropped last week due to insufficient evidence, according to reports.
Dana, meanwhile, entered a plea agreement where the charges against him were dropped in exchange for community service, according to reports.
Francis won re-election as Penobscot chief last month. Dana did not run for the tribal council again.
