NATICK, Mass. — The Sun Journal received two New England journalism awards Thursday, honoring both the daily and Sunday newspapers.
The New England Newspaper & Press Association named the Lewiston newspapers as “distinguished” in their circulation class for 2018 during its annual New England Newspaper Conference.
In addition to the Lewiston daily, The Day in New London, Connecticut, was named a distinguished newspaper. The Berkshire Eagle in Pittsfield, Massachusetts, was named newspaper of the year.
In the Sunday newspaper category, in addition to the Sun Journal, The Eagle Tribune in North Andover, Massachusetts, earned distinguished recognition and The Berkshire Eagle was named newspaper of the year.
The only other newspaper in Maine honored in the NENPA contest was The Ellsworth American, which was named a distinguished newspaper in the weekly community newspaper category.
NENPA is a professional trade organization that represents 450 daily, weekly and specialty newspapers in Massachusetts, Connecticut, New Hampshire, Vermont, Maine and Rhode Island.
