FRYEBURG — Fryeburg Academy has announced the official groundbreaking for their new dining hall and student union at 4:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 12, behind the LaCasce Building. The ceremony is open to the public. A private donor reception will follow from 5 to 6 p.m. at the Green House, 686 Main St.
The new construction is part of the Academy’s Students in the Center Capital Campaign that entails renovating and expanding the existing dining facility and student union, and the construction of a new, adjoining dining hall. The capital project will increase the current footprint of 11,600 to 21,600 total square feet.
The school has retained Connor Architecture, an award-winning architecture and design firm that specializes in school and university projects, to oversee the $6 million project.
