RUMFORD — The Rumford Horseshoe Club will host its tournament beginning at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 13, at the Hosmer Field horseshoe pits.

Donations needed for Halloween walk

DIXFIELD — The Area Halloween Walk that takes place on Weld Street each year is financed strictly through donations. Children from all the surrounding towns enjoy the convenience and safety of this walk. The street is closed to traffic and patrolled by the town crew and local police, and volunteers see the rest through.

Donations of candy or money can be made at the Dixfield Town Office, Dan’s Automotive Repair & Sales in Rumford, and some area stores have donation cans on the counters. Volunteers are always welcome as well.

River Valley Haunted Walk to take place

MEXICO — Wicked, the River Valley Haunted Walk, will take place Oct. 19-20, 26-27, in the River Valley Recreation Center, 15 Recreation Drive.

A new feature this year is a Chroma-Chaos, Maine’s only kid-friendly blacklight maze. This consists of nearly 1,000 square feet, three main rooms and six themes painted by master black light artist Brent Bachelder of Club Neopolsi Creations Design Studio.

Doors open at 6 p.m., with walks from 7 to 10, or later. Tickets are $11 for Wicked and the Chroma-Chaos, or $5 for just the Chroma-Chaos.

Eastern Star chapter holds charity fundraiser

NEW SHARON — Eastern Star Messalunskit Chapter 170 is holding their charity fundraiser Gift A Rama with a meal at 6 p.m. Friday, Oct. 19, at the New Sharon Masonic Lodge.

Tickets are $8 each for the meal. Following the meal there will be a gift bag raffle, silent auction and a big pie auction. Open to the public.

Pumpkin Fest location change

RUMFORD — The Pumpkin Fest, to be held on Saturday, Oct. 20, will be moved from the downtown to Hosmer Field this year due to the construction on the Island.

Fire Chief Chris Reed is trying to organize a 10 a.m. parade the day of the event, complete with bands, floats, old cars, etc. Anyone interested in participating can email him at creeed@rumfordme.org.

Race to Recovery 5K
 
MEXICO — Oxford County Mental Health Services is hosting the 2018 Race to Recovery 5K race along the banks of the Swift River starting at the Mexico Rec Park at 9 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 21.

Legion Auxiliary holds Paint-N-Sip event

FARMINGTON — The American Legion Auxiliary will host a Paint-N-Sip event at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 21, at the American Legion, 158 High St.
