LEEDS — Karen D. Spear Trider died of cancer Monday, Oct. 8.

She was born in Gardiner on April 7, 1951, the daughter of Harold L. Spear and Laura Maxine Leman Bennett Spear of Randolph.

She was the wife of Christopher D. Trider. They were married on Aug. 27, 1988, in Randolph and enjoyed 30 years of marriage.

A 1969 graduate of Gardiner Area High School, Karen was executive secretary to Attorney General Richard S. Cohen, administrative assistant to Chief Medical Examiner Henry F. Ryan and worked as a legal secretary in the private sector for many years.

She was predeceased by her mother, Laura Maxine Leman Spear; stepdaughter, Deven J. Trider; brother-in-law, Laurier “Larry” Lemay; mother-in-law, Nancy L. Trider; and nephew, Forrest W. Austin III.

She is survived by her husband, Christopher D. Trider; her father, Harold L. Spear; stepson, Nicholas R. Trider, and wife, Melissa; stepdaughter, Ashlyn J. Posiak, and wife, Laura; sister, Suzanne Brissette, and husband, Robert; sister, Linda Lemay; brother, Harry Spear, and wife, Debbie Clarke; granddaughters Emily and Ellasyn Trider; father-in-law, David L. Trider; sisters-in-law Kimberly Trider-Grant and husband, Arthur, and Karen Barrett and partner, Noah Smith; nephews Shawn Cormier and wife, Hazel, and daughters and Nathan Shaw; nieces: Michelle Patten and husband, Craig, and daughters; Suzanne Andrews and husband, Chad, and children; Jessica Gawron and husband, Marcin, and sons; and Melissa Yeaton and husband, Nathan, and children; and dear friend, Michael Fullerton Louten, and husband, Greg.

At her request, there will be no service. It was her wish to be cremated. Arrangements are under the care of Staples Funeral and Cremation Services, Gardiner.
