JAY — Once again the tri-town area is pulling together to help one of its own. A benefit supper, silent auction and raffles will be held 4:30 – 7 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 3, at the Knights of Columbus Hall, 148 Main Street in Jay, to benefit Roger Roy.
Kentucky Fried Chicken has donated 400 biscuits and 200 servings cole slaw. Coke and Pepsi are providing drinks and food businesses are donating the spaghetti.
The supper will include Donald Castonguay’s famous spaghetti sauce. Tickets are $7 for adults and $3 for children under 12.
There will be a silent auction and a 50/50 raffle. Other raffles will be offered. Tickets are 6/$5.
Tickets for a basket calendar raffle are $10 each. There will be 30 baskets filled with items worth $50-60.
Roy, a long-time resident of Livermore, owned R and B Meats on Route 4 for 20 years. He retired to Eustis and is battling multiple myeloma, a form of cancer that affects bone marrow. He is undergoing chemotherapy and radiation treatments.
His daughter, Cathy Roy, spearheaded the idea of a benefit.
“Renda Guild and I took it on,” Ann Hammond said.
She said silent auction items include two cords wood donated by Johnny Castonguay. Another cord of wood and wood pellets are other auction items.
Raffle items include maple syrup, a NASCAR jacket, Flagship Cinemas movie passes and popcorn basket, Spruce Mountain Pharmacy basket and one with bird feeders and supplies.
“We have such awesome people in these towns. Everybody has been so supportive. Jay, Livermore and Livermore Falls are always behind us 100 percent. I’m so proud of that,” Hammond said.
More information and tickets are available at the Livermore Town Office during business hours or by calling Hammond, 897-2503.
