I am writing in response to a letter from Mary Jane Newell (Sept. 29) where she accuses liberals of shameful and unacceptable behavior.

What is shameful and unacceptable is a president who is an overt racist and misogynist and boasts openly about sexually assaulting women and grabbing their private parts.

What is shameful and unacceptable is tearing young children from their parents’ arms and putting them in cages. Also shameful and unacceptable is the fact that most of those children have yet to be reunited with their parents and are probably traumatized for life.

What is shameful and unacceptable is the president striving to undo everything his predecessor accomplished, especially the Affordable Care Act, which has provided health care for many who could not previously afford it.

Moreover, it is also shameful and unacceptable that this president kowtows to despots like Kim Jong Un and Vladimir Putin.

I am 84 years old and have never seen a president like Trump, who is undignified and clearly unfit for the office.

I fear for the nation’s democracy and the future of the United States of America.
