PARIS — Celebration Barn Theater will present The Gawler Family Band at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 13.
It will be the last show of 2018.
John and Ellen Gawler and their daughters Molly, Edith and Elsie will be joined by Bennett Konesni for offer an assortment of old and new sounds from many folk traditions.
Whether crooning a poignant ballad or delivering a rollicking fiddle tune, the Gawler Family Band’s infectious spirit and sparkling musicianship delights audiences. While interweaving vocal harmonies, they accompany themselves with fiddles, banjo, wooden banjo, cello, guitar, ukulele, piano and a few surprises.
Their unique arrangements often feature historical and humorous anecdotes. Although the Gawlers may be best known for their extensive collection of dance tunes in the Scots-Irish and French-Canadian traditions.
Celebration Barn Theater is an immersive physical theater center that draws artists from around the world who are seeking to train and create their own works. The Barn’s mission is to inspire creativity and community by harnessing the power of live performance.
Tickets are available for $14 for adults, $12 for seniors (60-plus) and $8 for those ages 17 and younger. All tickets are general admission; members receive priority seating. Lobby and concessions open at 6:30 p.m. Purchasing tickets in advance is strongly recommended.
