GREENWOOD — A Brown Bag Lunch, sponsored by Western Mountains Senior College and hosted by Bonnie Poley, will be held from 12:30 to 2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 18, at the Greenwood Town Hall.

Poley will lead a discussion titled “Why Buy Local?” and talk about what a vibrant local economy looks like. A sampling of products and participants includes:

• Velvet Hollow Sugar Works with gluten-free baked goods, granola and mixes prepared in its dedicated gluten-free commercial kitchen. There will be maple syrup and maybe honey.

• Bags of fresh-roasted, organic, fair-trade Columbian, Sumatran and decaf Peruvian coffee. Michelle Shutty will also provide free cups of brewed coffee.

• Krazy K Soap, a small local, kitchen-based, natural soap company in Western Maine that uses only high-quality natural ingredients.

• Laurie Bailey will have goat cheese.

• Anna Sysko will have baked goods.

The event is free and open to the public. Products will be available for sale.
