TURNER — Town Manager Kurt Schaub announced at the Board of Selectmen meeting Monday night that the Route 4 construction project is being put on hold by the state highway department.

Schaub said the original plan was to have the highway paved from the Livermore town line to the Auburn town line, but crews will only get to Upper Street this fall.

“We’ve basically run out of time,” he said, but added that crews will smooth out the breaks in the road before putting the project on hold.

In other business, selectmen approved a bid for heating fuel from Blanchard’s Cash Fuel Inc. in Turner. The bid was $2.59 for fixed oil, $1.399 for fixed propane and $2.65 plus 25 cents for dyed diesel variable.

Schaub also shared that Maine Revenue Services released its estimated town valuations for fiscal year 2019, and Turner’s came in at $505.7 million, up $18,950 from 2018. He said the increase was due mostly to the amount of property that was sold in 2018.

The board also approved four junkyard permits, two to David Richardson, one to Jesse Walker and one to Lester Quimby. All four properties have had junkyard permits since at least the 1980s.
