DEAR SUN SPOTS: We want to reach out to all Moxie fans to let them know that the festival theme for the 2019 Moxie Festival is “MOXIE GOES ARTSY.”

One of the catalysts for the theme was the success of artist Marcea Crawford’s Moxie murals that were installed on the Lisbon Community Library during the 2018 festival, as well as the addition of the Moxie Festival Art Walk, which we plan to expand.

The festival theme sets the tone for the festival and inspires everyone in the creation of everything Moxie that can be incorporated into the special weekend, from events and parade floats to T-shirts and gear. In November, the Moxie Festival Committee will begin accepting design nominations for the 2019 logo. Keep an eye out here for an announcement!

If you would like to volunteer and be a part of the 2019 Moxie Festival, please email coordinator@moxiefestival.com or post a comment or message to the committee on “The Moxie Festival” Facebook page.

For many children, this is their only holiday gift. All donations can be dropped off at the church at 106 Pleasant St., Mondays through Thursdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Please call Rose at 784-1306 or email office@highstreet-ucc.org for more information.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: I wanted to let you know that my book about Jimi Hendrix has now been published. It includes several memories from local people who saw him at the Armory in Lewiston. Sun Spots, I so appreciate all your help in getting the word out and your role in attracting these stories.

— Richard, Manchester, England

ANSWER: Music writer Richard Houghton’s book, Jimi Hendrix — The Day I was There, is being sold in paperback on Amazon for about $16. The book brings together over 500 personal memories of Hendrix from his pre-fame days through to his very last days when he had become not only a household name but a music legend. On Nov. 22, 2017, Richard sent a request to Sun Spots from England asking that anyone who was at Jimi’s performance at Lewiston Armory on March 16, 1968, to please share their memories, and you did a fantastic job! Thank you to everyone in Sun Spots Land who shared their experiences with Richard for the book. I have read an extended excerpt and it is excellent. To find out more information, go to http://richardmhoughton.com/.

I’m so proud of us all that we were able to participate in making and sharing history!
