LEWISTON – University Credit Union, a statewide credit union chartered to serve University of Maine System students, alumni, staff and their families, announced the recipients of its annual scholarship program for 2018.

Parker Brownrigg, a 2018 graduate of Lewiston High School, is one of six students in Maine to receive a $1,000 scholarship.

“The mission of University Credit Union is to actively advance the financial well-being of our members in every stage of their lives,” Matthew Walsh, president and CEO of University Credit Union, said. “Paying for college is often the first significant financial investment a young person makes, and with the cost of education on the rise, scholarships are more important than ever to reduce the debt burden while demonstrating the real value of perseverance and hard work.”

Brownrigg is attending Maine Maritime Academy to study marine engineering technology.
