RUMFORD — Rylee Sevigny scored and then assisted on the game-winning goal in overtime for Mountain Valley as the Falcons defeated Lisbon 2-1 on Wednesday in a Class C South field hockey game.
Sevigny’s first-half goal gave the Falcons (8-3) a 1-0 lead. Mountain Valley was held off the scoreboard in the second half while Sadie Hardt of Lisbon (4-6) tied the game to send it into overtime.
In the extra period Rylee Sevigny assisted on sister Avery Sevigny’s goal to earn the win.
Despite out-shooting Lisbon 30-2, Mountain Valley struggled to score. Lisbon goalie Rebecca Buc made 20 saves, while Nora Tag made one save for the Falcons.
Dirigo 6, Boothbay 2
DIRIGO — Boothbay scored the first goal of the game, but Dirigo took control from there and came away with a 6-2 field hockey win Wednesday.
Kailey Hackett scored a hat trick for Dirigo (7-4) in the win. Sophia Jaques tallied two goals and Taylor Bryant one for the Cougars.
Courtney Meader opened up the scoring for Boothbay (3-8). Dirigo answered goals from Jacques and Bryant for a 2-1 halftime lead. Riley Sullivan tied the game for Boothbay at the start of the second half, but the Cougars scored four unanswered goals.
Fryeburg Academy 3, Poland 0
POLAND — Fryeburg scored three goals in the first half and shut out Poland to earn a 3-0 win on Wednesday in field hockey action.
Ryan Duffy opened the scoring for Fryeburg (8-2). That was followed by a goal from Maggie Powers and Kaylee Emery.
Poland (5-4) goalie Ashton Sturtevant had 24 saves in the loss.
MCI 4, Leavitt 0
TURNER — MCI scored four times in the second half to beat Leavitt 4-0 in field hockey action Wednesday.
Madison Hartley’s first of two assists in the game set Allysah Greene goal to make it 1-0 Jillian Hartley scored next, followed by Alivia Wood and Gracie Moore for MCI (8-3).
Leavitt (4-5) goalkeeper Mallory Casey saved 15 shots, and Ashley Soulieve saved four for MCI.
Mt. Ararat 2, Edward Little 1, 2OT
TOPSHAM — After a scoreless first half, Edward Little and Mt Ararat both scored a goal in the second half to force overtime before the Eagles were able to pull out a 2-1 win Wednesday in KVAC field hockey.
Courtney Larson scored first for Edward Little (3-6). Brynn Charron tied the game for Mt. Ararat (6-3).
In overtime, Wyley Fitzpatrick scored the winner for the Eagles.
Elise Syphers saved nine shots for EL.
Oxford Hills 4, Brunswick 2
PARIS — Brooke Carson scored a hat trick to lead Oxford Hills to a 4-2 field hockey win over Brunswick on Wednesday.
Sara Scrapchansky opened the scoring for Brunswick (2-7). Jessica Bickford answered with a goal for the Vikings (5-3-1) to tie the game, which was followed by Carson’s first goal to give Oxford Hills a 2-1 halftime lead.
Carson scored to open the second half. That was followed by a goal by Kelsey Sullivan, and then Carson scored her third to end the scoring.
Liberty Krauss saved 15 shots for Brunswick, while Madison Day saved nine for the Vikings.
Boys’ soccer
Sacopee Valley 5, St. Dom’s 3
HIRAM — Erik Fossum paced the Hawks (2-5) with three goals in a boys’ soccer win over the Saints (3-4-1) on Wednesday.
Connor Meggison and Richie Watson also scored for Sacopee Valley. Michael Murphy, Caleb Cox, Lucas Lavoie and goalkeeper Matt Day each contributed an assist.
Bryton Kieltyka tallied a pair of second-half goals for St. Dom’s. Jaden Webster scored the other goal.
Day stopped 14 shots. Thomas Suckow made five saves for the Saints.
Girls’ soccer
Brunswick 5, Oxford Hills 0
PARIS — Anna Kousky scored two goals to open the game and jump-start the Brunswick offense en route to a 5-0 girls’ soccer win over Oxford Hills on Wednesday.
Kousky and Charlotte MacMillan each scored twice and Elana Palmer once for Brunswick. Beth Labbe and Aisley Snell combined for 12 saves for the Dragons (7-0-1).
Oxford Hills (4-3-1) goalie Jillian Douglas saved 10 shots for the Vikings in the loss.
Carrabec 5, Dirigo 0
DIXFIELD — Four different players scored for Carrabec on Wednesday as it cruised to a 5-0 win over Dirigo in a girls’ soccer matchup.
Skylar Chipman opened the scoring for Carrabec (3-5-1), then the lead grew to 2-0 on a Dirigo (0-9) own goal. Chantelle Lacroix, Caitlin Crawford and Aislinn Slate all scored in the second half for the Cobras.
Dirigo goalkeeper Katie Morse saved 18 shots.
Winthrop 4, Lisbon 3
LISBON — Aaliyah WilsonFalcone’s hat trick led the Ramblers to the MVC girls’ soccer win Wednesday.
Hannah Eason added the other goal for Winthrop (7-3-0), and Brooke Burnham made nine saves in net.
Kylie Merritt had two goals for Lisbon (5-2-1), and Destiny Deschaines added one. Sarah Taggerty made 14 saves.
