DEAR SUN SPOTS: Could you provide me with a list of massage therapists in the Lewiston and Lisbon area? Thank you! I appreciate what you and all the readers do to help people.

—No name, no town

ANSWER: Massage therapists can be as different as snowflakes and I’m reluctant to just list the ones in our area because they all provide different experiences. Instead, I would like to ask our readers for recommendations and a bit of information about their favorite massage therapists. Some massage therapists have their own individual practices while others work in a spa or will even come to your home or place of business. You can even get a chair massage at the mall! There are also massage therapists who see patients in conjunction with physical therapists and chiropractors.

There many types of massages: Swedish massage, Shiatsu, Thai massage, deep tissue massage and sports massage. Some practitioners incorporate aromatherapy or hot stones.

Your primary care provider or local wellness center may be able to give you referrals, and be sure to ask your friends and family. You may have to visit a few practitioners before you find one you really like. No matter what type of massage you choose, there are numerous health benefits.

If you are a licensed massage therapist in the area and are accepting new clients, please write to Sun Spots with some information about your practice and I will print it here. Readers, this is your chance to shine! Fill up the magic Rolodex with your recommendations. Our reader who wants an excellent massage awaits!

DEAR SUN SPOTS: Recently, there was a notice in the Sun Journal that an algaecide was going to be added to the bodies of water where our drinking water comes from. I’d like to know exactly what this chemical is.

—No name, no town

ANSWER: An algaecide is an agent, either natural or synthetic, used to kill algae. It was stated in the Sun Journal article published on Sept. 5 that a low dose of an algaecide to be applied to Lake Auburn on Sept. 11 is one “that is commonly used in many drinking water reservoirs in southern New England.”

For more information on the details, you can call Auburn Water District at 207-784-6469 and/or Lewiston Public Works Water Division at 207-513-3003. You can also review Lake Auburn’s water quality report at https://www.lewistonmaine.gov/DocumentCenter/View/9336/2017-WaterQualityReport or at awsd.org/WaterQualityReport. Another resource is the Lake Auburn Watershed website at lakeauburnwater.org.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: Did I hear that Downton Abbey has been made into a movie? Can you find out for me?

—No name, no town

ANSWER: Oh yes, this is happening, but we have to wait another year to see “Downton Abbey” on the big screen. According to an article in “Entertainment Weekly,” “the majority of the original cast is returning and producers announced the “original principal cast would return, not specifying names. Back in July, EW confirmed Michelle Dockery, Hugh Bonneville, Maggie Smith, and Joanne Froggatt were onboard, while ‘People’ confirmed Elizabeth McGovern and Laura Carmichael’s involvement. Allen Leech also appeared to confirm he was onboard…”

The entire core production team is returning for the film. Creator Julian Fellowes, of course, penned the script and will produce alongside original series producers Gareth Neame and Liz Trubridge. It’s a dream come true!
