Early in life, Rita had worked at a shoe shop and also Pepperell Mill of Auburn. Later, she had been employed at Gypsum Paper of Lisbon Falls and Maine Electronics of Lisbon. In the ‘70s she stopped working in order to fully devote her time to raising her children.
