Community block party set
LEWISTON — Young People in Recovery is pairing with Maine Inside Out to host the first Community United for Change Block Party.
It will be from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 22, on Middle Street. Middle Street will be closed during this time.
The party will include live music, recovery speakers, a barbecue, bake sale, dunk tank, bouncy house and face painting.
Annual meeting of Community Little Theatre
AUBURN — The L-A Community Little Theatre will hold its annual meeting starting at 6 p.m. Monday, Sept. 24, at the Great Falls Performing Arts Center on Academy Street.
The agenda includes committee and financial reports, nominations and election of board members, and volunteer recognition and awards. Following the official business will be a retrospective of the 2017-18 shows and a sneak preview of CLT’s 79th season. The highlight of the evening will be the unveiling of the theatre’s new lighting catwalk.
The meeting will also include a matching gift challenge. An anonymous donor has offered to match up to $1,000 in donations to CLT made at the annual meeting.
A social time begins 6 p.m. followed by the meeting at 6:30. All members and anyone interested in getting involved with CLT are encouraged to attend.
Robin Dow Senior Citizens to meet
Legion Post to host Texas hold’em tournament
SABATTUS — American Legion Post 135, 40 Island Road, will host a Texas hold’em tournament Thursday, Sept. 27. The public is invited. Doors will open at 6 p.m. and games will begin at 6:30 p.m.
Buy-in is $35, with an optional $5 for high hand. There will also be a 50/50. Snacks and beverages will be available for purchase.

Androscoggin County Democrats Meeting
LEWISTON — The monthly meeting of the Androscoggin County Democratic Committee will be held at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 27, at the Democratic Coordinated Campaign Office, 124 Lisbon St.
The guest speaker for this month’s meeting will be Assistant House Majority Leader Jared Golden. There will be ample opportunity for questions and answers after Jared’s presentation.

Danville Grange business meeting
AUBURN — Members of Danville Junction Grange will meet at the hall for dessert at 6 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 27. The business meeting will follow at 7 p.m. Newly elected officers will be installed at that time.
Donations of trash bags for PAL will be collected, as well as clipped coupons for troops.
APL to host Gizmo Gardens Robo Pot program
AUBURN — Christina Dorman from the Maine State Library will present an introductory lesson in electronic circuitry with coding concepts at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 29, for fifth-graders to high school sophomores. Space is limited.
The Maine State Library is partnering with Gizmo Gardens to bring high quality STEM programming to Maine’s Public libraries. During this three-hour program students will craft a paper clay pot, plant a houseplant, and build a working electrical circuit that waters plants every 24 hours.
Students will leave the program with an introductory knowledge of electrical circuits as well as a personalized plant pot and circuit board. This program is accessible to all with no prior circuitry experience needed.

Celebration of Ministry
AUBURN — The Auburn Advent Christian Church, also known as Turner Street Community Church, 263 Turner St., is having a Celebration of Ministry at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 29.
It will be a time to share memories of the past in which scores of individuals have participated in preaching, teaching, music, youth work, and many other forms of ministry for the Kingdom of God.
There will be light refreshments and additional time for fellowship following the service in the multipurpose room. The parking lot and ramp entrance are behind the church at Vernon and Whitney streets.
The members are in the process of transferring their church properties to Connect Church of Lewiston as they look forward to meeting at their new location in the Sarah Frye Home on Philomar Street in Auburn starting Sunday, Oct. 7.
