AUBURN — Bangor Savings Bank will build a new branch office on Turner Street with a scheduled opening of fall 2019.

The company purchased the three-story apartment building at 170 Turner St. this summer. Now vacant, it once housed A1 LA Used Appliance on the first floor.

The building will be torn down to make way for a “5,600-square-foot, one-story, state-of-the-art branch and business office,” according to a statement released by the bank.

Bangor Savings Bank has 61 locations throughout New England, including one at 882 Lisbon St. in Lewiston.

Carol Colson, senior vice president and director of Marketing and Media Relations for Bangor Savings Bank, said the Lewiston branch will not close after the new Auburn branch opens.

It is unclear when the three-story building will be torn down. It’s across Turner Street from Dead River Co. and across Benjamin Street from Artios Books, which is scheduled to close by the end of the year.
