LEWISTON — Sally S. Hartnett, 86, of Friendship passed away Saturday, Sept. 15, following a recent illness. Our mother was an extraordinary woman of great strength and graciousness. Her unending love for all of us will stay in our hearts forever.

Sally was born on June 4, 1932, in Minot, the daughter of Maurice and Maude (MacNaught) Small. She attended the University of Maine at Orono from 1950-52. She was past president of the Patronesses of St. Mary’s Hospital, a member of the Women’s Hospital Association and a member of The United Baptist Church, and many other civic organizations.

Sally is preceded in death by her adoring husband, Guy; and brothers James T. and Robert L. Small of Lewiston; and her son-in-law, Tommaso Tempesta, of Turner.

She is survived by her four children, daughter, Lynn, and Spencer Booth of Hebron, Conn., daughter, Diane Tempesta, of Turner, son, Mark Hartnett, and his fiancee Catherine Bass of York, and son, Paul, and Susan Hartnett of Brunswick. Our mother’s love and legacy will be cherished always.
