FALMOUTH — The L/A Nordiques exploded for five goals in the second period to pull away from the Cape Cod Islanders, 6-0, in NA3HL junior hockey action on Sunday.
Kyle Secor scored two goals during the onslaught. Zack Mullen had one and added his second goal in the third period.
The Nordiques (2-0) outshot the Islanders, 46-20. Jason St. Pierre stopped 20 shots to record the shutout.
The teams combined for 52 minutes in penalties but went 0-for-12 on the power play.
MEN’S SOCCER
CMCC 3, PAUL SMITH 2
AUBURN — Central Maine Community College jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first half and then held off Paul Smith College, 3-2, in Yankee Conference men’s soccer action Sunday.
Goals by Brian Mendez and Kenneth Ball staked the Mustangs to a 2-0 lead at the break. Nathan Smith’s goal cut the deficit in half for the Bobcats, but Ball answered with his second goal to render Kyle King’s final marker meaningless.
Dalton Wing made six saves in net for the Mustangs (4-1). Christopher Perotta stopped seven shots for the Bobcats (1-3).
WOMEN’S SOCCER
BATES 3, BABSON 1
LEWISTON — So Kim scored a pair of goals as Bates rallied back from an early Babson goal to win, 3-1.
Riley Turcotte scored the other goal for the Bobcats (2-3). Katherine Nuckols made three saves in net.
Emma Dineen scored for the Beavers (3-3-1) three minutes into the game. Goalie Kayla Salmon made six saves.
CMCC 2, PAUL SMITH 1
AUBURN — Cassidy Hart and Samantha Balardo scored for Central Maine Community College in a 2-1 victory over Paul Smith College.
Deliah Schreiber assisted on Balardo’s goal. Ali Sult and Skyler Henry combined for six saves for the Mustangs (3-2). Annie DeHaven spoiled the shutout for the Bobcats (0-6).
