DENMARK — The Denmark Arts Center presents “Red & Gold Cabaret REVIVAL” at 7:30 p.m. Saturday.
A tradition of at least 15 years. Lillian and Ralph Morse started the “Red & Gold Cabaret” shows as an outgrowth of Lil’s Singers Workshop at the Denmark Arts Center years ago. After Lillian’s retirement, Lil’s Singers Workshop merged with the Mountain Top Music Center class, now taught by Mary Bastoni. “These cabarets developed something of a cult following. They were always a well-produced Vaudeville night type thing with songs and skits,” explained Director George Wiese. “It’s been about three years since we’ve done one ‘like the old days’.”
George started helping Lillian with the shows after Ralph passed away, then Lillian moved to Massachusetts when her health began failing. Local singers will present a ravishing new show under the direction of George Wiese. The show will pay homage to the changing season, and memories of yesteryear — including a tribute to Red and Gold founders Lillian Lee and Ralph Morse.
Tickets are available for $15 for adults, $12 for seniors (65-plus) and $8 for kids under 18. All tickets are general admission; members receive priority seating. Lobby and concessions open at 7 p.m. Purchasing tickets in advance is strongly recommended.
The Denmark Arts Center is at 50 West Main St., only one hour from Lewiston. To purchase tickets or find more information, visit www.DenmarkArts.org or call the Denmark Arts Center box office at 207-452-2412.
