Sons of Italy to meet

RUMFORD — Sons of Italy Lodge No. 467 will hold a regular meeting at 1 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 16, at the Lodge on Route 108.

The meeting will be followed by a light lunch.

Lithuanian picnic to share culture

RUMFORD — The Rumford Lithuanian Heritage Club will host the 10th annual Lithuanian picnic at Black Mountain of Maine on Saturday, Sept. 15.

Doors open at 11:30 a.m. with the meal being served starting at 12:30 p.m. until sold out.

This event is open to the public so community members can taste traditional Lithuanian foods prepared by the club members.

Other activities include raffles, traditional Christmas tree with handmade decoration, clothing display and more.

Cost for the meal is $15 for adults and $8 for children. Food of the day will be Kugli, Kielbasa and many other authentic dishes from the region. Cash bar will also be available.

Drawings on gift baskets full of Lithuanian gift and food items will be available.

Fish & Game fall shoots

PARIS — Norway/Paris Fish & Game’s fall shoots will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sundays, Sept. 16 and 23 at the clubhouse.

Youth up to 16 years old may shoot for free, and adults may pay $1 a round. There are safety instructors at every station. 

New members are welcome. Lunch will be served at 11:30 a.m.

Adult ed offering Tai Chi

BETHEL — SAD 44 Adult and Continuing Education will offer Tai Chi for Arthritis and Falls Prevention from 3 to 4 p.m. Tuesday and Thursdays, Sept. 18 to Nov. 8. 

Tai Chi movements are slow, controlled and gentle, emphasizing body alignment, weight transfer and internal focus. Both easy to learn and do, the forms are designed to improve flexibility and balance; enhance relaxation; increase strength and flexibility; develop better breathing; and improve overall health.

Heywood Club to meet

NORWAY — The Heywood Club of Norway will hold its fall club meeting Monday, Sept. 17, at the Clubhouse.

The business meeting will be at 5:30 p.m. and a presentation on essential oils will be held at 6 p.m. Refreshments will be served.

Christmas tree wanted in Dixfield

DIXFIELD — The Town of Dixfield is hoping a generous individual or company will donate a spectacular fir tree to replace the town’s current Christmas tree located next to Bullrock.

Town Manager Dustin Starbuck said they want to replace the current tree with one that is “more appropriately shaped and easier to maintain.”

To donate, contact Starbuck at the Town Office at 207-562-8151. Individuals wanting the current tree are also asked to contact the town manager as the town can transport to their property, if desired.

Paint Night to benefit Girl’s State

LIVERMORE FALLS — American Legion Auxiliary Unit in Livermore Falls will sponsor a paint night with Nicole White of Artful Nights from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 23, at the American Legion Hall, 17 Reynolds Ave. This is a fundraiser to raise money to send a girl or girls to Dirigo Girl’s State in June of 2019.
