MECHANIC FALLS — Randall “Randy” Plummer, 64, of Mechanic Falls passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, Sept. 5, at his home.
He was born in Mechanic Falls on Oct. 29, 1953, No. 9 of 10 children to James and Dorothy Plummer. Randy graduated from Edward Little High School and later earned a degree in culinary arts from CMVTI.
He worked in several area restaurants before becoming co-owner of The Big “S.” He also worked at BIW for a few years and more recently was the bar manager of the American Legion Post 150 in Mechanic Falls until 2015, when he became ill. It was then that he also retired from RSU 16 as head cook for Elm Street School and Poland Regional High School.
Randy was a member of the SAL at American Legion Post 150 in Mechanic Falls for 20-plus years. As a member he was SAL commander a few times and served a few offices. Randy was dedicated to the Legion, doing anything that needed to be done. Randy was known for his big heart doing any and everything for anyone he could. He was a devoted family man. Randy loved spending time with his family and friends.
He is survived by and will be greatly missed by his two loving daughters, Tracy (Marshall) Francis and Jackie (LT) Hall; his loving girlfriend, Lena, with whom he lived for many years, and her two loving sons, Josh (Carrie) Paradis and Jeremy (Tanya) Paradis; his pride and joy grandchildren, Jacob, Sasha, Cameron, AJ, Walker, Cooper, Gus, Gretchen, Nick, Phoebe, Julia and Jayden; his loving siblings Jimmy (Ruth) Plummer, Sandra (Stacy) Ballard, Sheila (Chub) Harris, Penny (Bud) Emery, Billy (Joan) Plummer, Ricky (Lori) Plummer, Rudy Plummer and Claudia (Dan) Mercier; a sister-in-law, Linda Berry Plummer; several nieces and nephews.
Randy was predeceased by his grandparents; his loving parents; a brother, Kickie; two nieces, Theresa Emery, Ronda Ballard; and a nephew, Gary Gravel.
Family and friends are invited to call from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 14, at the Chandler Funeral Home, 26 W. Dwinal St., Mechanic Falls. A celebration of his life will be held following the visitation at the American Legion Post 150, 41 Elm St., Mechanic Falls. Interment will take place at a later date at the Maple Grove Cemetery in Mechanic Falls.
