BRUNSWICK — The Theater Project kicks off its 47th year with a mix of original, classic, and modern plays for its 2018-2019 season.
On Sept. 28, under the direction of Michael Rafkin, they will present the world premiere of “Seal,” written by Maine playwright Clay Graybeal. They can’t give too much away about this taut, mysterious thriller but Greg Scott is either the paranoid victim of a government conspiracy or one of the most dangerous men on the planet. Dr. Amanda Kelly has less than a week to discover the truth before the unfolding of irreparable consequences.
On Nov. 2, Theater Project founder and artistic director, Al Miller will direct William Shakespeare’s “As You Like It,” the classic romp of love and mistaken identity.
December will see the return of “The Best Christmas Pageant Ever,” by Barbara Robinson, opening on Dec. 7. The show features the charming misfit Herdman children and their participation in a local church pageant. A combined cast of professional actors, community members and kids brings this sparkling holiday comedy to life — it is sure to bring smiles and laughter to audiences of all ages. On Dec. 19, Al Miller reprises “Wales & Tales,” the beloved, festive classic featuring stories, music and seasonal cheer.
“Peter and the Starcatcher” by Rick Elice and directed by Al Miller opens Feb. 1. This captivating story introduces the characters of Peter Pan, Mrs. Darling, Tinkerbell and Wendy before they embark on their more familiar Neverland adventures.
“Inherit the Wind” by Jerome Lawrence and Robert E. Lee opens March 15. Christopher Price will direct this powerful accounting of the 1925 Scopes Trial and the polemical debate between science and religion.
The 2018-2019 season finishes with the 23rd annual production of “Voices in the Mirror,” an original sketch comedy and improvisational production performed by the talented young adults of The Young Company and under the direction of Karin Baard.
