LEWISTON — Ciaran Bardong and Morgan Dewdney scored second-half goals to push the Bates (1-0) past UMaine-Farmington (1-2) in men’s soccer action Wednesday.
Bardong scored from Peder Bakken with 25:41 left in regulation. Six minutes later, Dewdney and Sam Huebschmann went for a header off a pass from from Liam Goldfarb. Dewdney connected for the goal.
Bates goalie Robbie Montanaro did not face a shot on goal. Matthew Wilson had five saves for the Beavers.

Southern Maine 3, UMaine-Farmington 0
FARMINGTON — Oak Hill graduate Hayden Spencer scored in the first half, and Kerrigan Demers and former Mt. Bleu standout Samantha Ellis added second-half goals as the Huskies (1-1) beat the Beavers (1-2) in field hockey play Wednesday.
The win was the 200th career victory for Huskies coach Bonny Brown-Denico.

Bridgton Academy 17, CMCC 4
AUBURN — Bridgton Academy scored 12 runs in the third inning as it pulled away with a 17-4 triumph over the Central Maine Community College in baseball action Wednesday.
The Wolverines racked up 18 hits in the game. James Dolan, Camren King, Andrew Divincenzo, Billy Blackett and Joey Barret all tallied multiple hits for Bridgton.
Eric Hoogterp went 2-for-3 at the plate for the Mustangs. Jordi Valls contributed to the offensive effort with a hit and an RBI, while Strout pitched in with a sacrifice fly.
Kaden Cutler scored the Mustangs’ fourth run with some aggressive base running, scoring on a wild pitch.
