It is, indeed, a sad time for Maine Republicans. First off, critics say Gov. Paul LePage’s decision to challenge a federal court’s ruling that the Civil Rights Act protects gay and transgender workers from discrimination casts Maine in a bad light and could hurt the state’s economic development efforts.
And then Rep. Bruce Poliquin hides behind right-wing, super-pac attack ads that wrongly accuse Marine Corp veteran Jarod Golden of jeopardizing Medicare when, in fact, it is he, Poliquin, who is on record as specifically voting on measures that would jeopardize both Medicare and Social Security, while voting for tax cuts that favor the wealthy, and a measure that would have cut health care for many when he voted to repeal the Affordable Care Act.
A sad time, indeed,
Bob Mennealy, Auburn
