FARMINGTON — Regional School Unit 9 directors voted unanimously Tuesday night to accept the Administrator Evaluation Committee’s recommendation to hire Lisa Sinclair as the new Cape Cod Hill School principal.
Sinclair previously worked at St. Albans Consolidated School in RSU 19 where she was a Literacy Coach and part time principal.
As Literacy Coach, Sinclair trained teachers in best literacy practices, and worked with students who struggled with reading, said RSU 9 superintendent Tina Meserve.
“Her experience in literacy practices was really important to the committee,” Meserve added.
Sinclair fills a vacancy created when former principal Darlene Paine requested a teaching transfer.
Paine is currently teaching first grade at Cape Cod Hill School.
Meserve said the committee held two rounds of interviews before recommending Sinclair.
The first round contained 7 to 10 candidates.
“We reopened the process because we didn’t feel we had exactly what we were looking for,” stated Meserve.
The second round yielded eight additional candidates, she said.
“From the committee’s perspective, we were very excited having her as a candidate. She has a lot of experience in areas we focus on in this district,” Meserve said.
Sinclair’s annual salary is $82,749.
Committee membership included Curriculum Coordinator Laura Columbia; school board directors; and a teacher, parent, and elementary school principal.
Sinclair started her principalship on Wednesday.
