AUBURN — Freshman defenseman Alinoor Deqow was a central part of the Mustangs’ defense as Central Maine Community College men’s soccer team opened the season with a 3-1 victory over the University of Maine at Machias on Saturday.
Freshman forward Brian Mendez collected goals in the first and second half for the Mustangs (1-0). Joel Masikini rounded out the scoring on a feed from Mendez.
Goalie Dominic Kane made 10 saves for the Clippers (0-1), while sophomore Dalton Wing prevented a pair to earn the win in net for CMCC.
Wentworth 2, UMaine-Farmington 0
FARMINGTON — Juan Cedeno and Cameron Pacheco both scored in the second half to lift the Leopards (1-0-1) over the Beavers (0-1-1) in men’s soccer action Saturday.
Matthew Wilson recorded three saves for Farmington.

Refis 3, UMaine-Farmington 2
FARMINGTON — Noelle Garcia scored the winning goal in the 90th minute as the Rangers (1-0) rallied to defeat the Beavers (0-2) in Farmington on Saturday.
Hadlee Yescott put Farmington up 2-1 with scores in the 28th and 62nd minutes. Regis responded to tie it on a goal by Kaylee Francis in the 80th minute, before Garcia’s unassisted winner.
Mikayla Cameron recorded seven saves for Farmington.
College field hockey
Smith 5, UMaine-Farmington 1
NORTHAMPTON, Mass. — Five different Pioneers (2-0) scored as they defeated the Beavers (0-2) in college field hockey action Saturday.
Kasey Talarico scored in the ninth minute to give UMF a 1-0 lead. Smith responded with goals by Maddie Ryan, Bryn Murray and Emily Biggs in a 12-minute span later in the first half to head into the intermission with a 3-1 lead.
Grace DiMarco recorded eight saves for Farmington.
