I have spoken to Bettyann Sheats many times in her role as my Maine House representative. I have found her to be very intelligent, very well-informed, and very determined to “do the right thing.”
Her first concern is the people of her district. She respects the rights of all citizens, whatever their party affiliations. She is distressed to see state government sliding towards tribal warfare (my words), resulting in bills being killed although there is wide consensus that they would be good for the citizens of Maine.
Her second concern is the reputation of Maine, the state. She wants to make Maine a place where citizens can be proud of their heritage and politics, not embarrassed.
Bettyann Sheats vows to work for meaningful results, not partisan blockades. She deserves to return to the Maine House. She will get things done “the right way.”
