GREER, S.C. — Marjorie “Boots” Raye Milligan, 95, formerly of the Rumford area, died Saturday, Aug. 18, at her daughter’s home in Greer, S.C.
She was born in Mexico on July 31, 1923, the daughter of Samuel Elton and Ida Mae (Carey) Raye, and graduated from Stephens High School in Rumford.
She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, reading, gardening, bowling, square dancing and especially loved spending time with her family.
She was married in Bath, Maine, on July 30, 1943, to Fred R. Milligan Sr., who died June 5, 1977. Survivors include a daughter, Deborah Mazza, of Greer, S.C.; four grandchildren: Naomi Green, Jade Galasso, David Milligan and Erica Bickford; many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents; husband; son, Fred Milligan Jr.; brothers Samuel and Rudy; and sisters Margaret, Ardis, Joyce and Emma.
The family would like to thank all of her caregivers, with a special thank-you to Pamela Behrman, whose dedication made her part of the family over the past three years.
