LEWISTON — All are invited to celebrate the end of summer at the multicultural Dance Party Social at the Gendron Franco Center from 8 p.m. to midnight Saturday, Aug. 25. The event will be held in Heritage Hall at 46 Cedar St. On-site parking is available.
This is another of the center’s events designed to bring all who love to listen to African dance music together on one night at the most inviting social spot in central and southern Maine.
“We are hoping that everyone will feel welcome to come and meet new friends from all over Africa, Maine and beyond,” said Mitch Thomas, the center’s executive director. Bernazo and Nigel Katende make up the DJ team providing African dance music from all over the continent, including Afro-Beat, Lingala, Zouk, Soukous, Congo dance music and more.
This is a pay-what-you-can, with a suggested $5 donation, as a cover at the door. The cash bar will be open for adult beverages as well as non-alcoholic drinks.
The Franco Center is handicapped accessible. Contact the box office at 207-783-1585 or online at FrancoCenter.org. Box office hours are Monday through Friday, from noon to 4 p.m. and 90 minutes before the show.
