LEWISTON — A young man who was found lying on Knox Street with serious injuries earlier this month was the victim of an assault, police said Thursday.
Police responded to the area in front of 94 Knox St. on Aug. 10, where a man was lying on his back in the street. He was unresponsive with an apparent head injury.
The incident had been reported at about 1 a.m.
The injured man was taken to Central Maine Medical Center, where he remains hospitalized but is expected to recover from his injuries.
Police did not release the victim’s name.
The case case continues to be investigated as an assault, police said.
