BANGOR — The 17th annual American Folk Festival is set to take over the Darlings Waterfront Pavilion this weekend. Fifteen performers will make multiple appearances over four stages throughout the weekend, including performers from the Lewiston-Auburn area.
Here are a few things festivalgoers should consider before coming to the festival:
• Leave dogs and other animals at home;
• Bring a chair for open area seating;
• There will be parking available at the Pickering Square Parking Garage, and Bass Park will have free parking and limited shuttle services. Folks may also use street parking downtown;
• There will be a bike parking station at the Railroad Stage entrance with volunteers on-site;
• Bring sunscreen;
• Nearly three dozen food vendors will be available, offering seafood, quesadillas, brick oven pizza and veggie wraps, as well as beverages;
• The festival is kid-friendly, featuring The Children’s Village, open noon to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, offering kids of all ages a place to do crafts; and
• A variety of craft vendors from throughout New England will be on-site offering jewelry, art, pottery and more.
The festival begins Friday at 6 p.m.; Saturday from noon to 10 p.m.; Sunday from noon to 6 p.m. There is no admission fee, although donations of $20 per person or $30 per family are suggested in order to keep the festival open to all.
