LEWISTON — Helen C. Alden, 92, of Lewiston died Saturday, Aug. 18, at Russell Park Manor. She was born in Lewiston on Nov. 11, 1925, a daughter of the late Stanley and Mary (Chorzempa) Cholewa. She was educated in local schools and graduated from Lewiston High School.

Helen married her true love, Gerald S. Alden, on Aug. 30, 1947. Together they raised their family and lived in Orono, Turner and Auburn. Gerald predeceased her in 1994. She worked as an administrative assistant at Lewiston City Hall, Walton Junior High School, Central Middle School and retired from Edward Little High School.

Helen enjoyed her flower gardens, knitting, baking, singing “Sto-Lat,” ballroom dancing and spending time at the ocean in Jonesport. She was also a 4-H leader. She was a communicant of St. Philip’s Church.

She is survived by her daughter, Kathleen Alden; sons Gerald Alden Jr. and Dana Alden; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by a sister, Josephine Cholewa; her daughter, Judith Carlile; and her son-in-law, Roy Carlile.
