LEWISTON — Raymond G. Vachon, 60, passed away Saturday, Aug. 18, after complications from multiple myeloma.
He was born in Lewiston, Sept. 10, 1957, the son of Gerard and Jeannette (Beaulieu) Vachon.
He was a graduate of Lewiston High School, and met and married the love of his life, the former Joline Fournier, and together shared over 41 years together.
In 1991, Joline and Ray were blessed with their only child, Gerard.
Raymond was a welder for Bath Iron Works for over 40 years, and was just awarded nationally the American Distinguished Welder Award for 2018.
He was an avid fisherman who was affectionately known as the “Striper King,” and was also an avid follower of his son’s music and sports activities. He was known for his talent as a “Pit Master” of family barbecues.
Survivors include his wife, Joline of Lisbon Falls; his son, Gerard of Brunswick; one sister, Linda Begin and husband, Ray; a special niece, Michelle Blais of Lewiston; as well as many nephews and nieces.
He was predeceased by his parents.
