DEAR SUN SPOTS: In response to the Aug. 17 Sun Spots regarding the need for computer repair, I’d like to recommend Buck Buchanan for advice or repairs. The price is reasonable depending on how long it takes to solve the problem. Contact him at Buck@pro-pc or 784-6295.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: The Great Falls Model Railroad Club at 144 Mill St. in Auburn has a hot dog steamer that we would like to donate to any area nonprofit. The steamer is an American Permanent Ware product, made in the U.S.A. It measures 14 by 16 inches and runs on 120 volts and draws 800 watts. I can be reached at 576-3788.

— Terry, Great Falls Model Railroad Club librarian, Auburn

ANSWER: Our readers have been offering lots of great donations recently! Keep your eyes on this column so you don’t miss out!

DEAR SUN SPOTS: I have a double recliner couch and one of the recliner mechanisms has broken. Is there anyone out there who can fix it? We love this couch!

ANSWER: If you haven’t already, start with the manufacturer. There may be some type of warranty. Also, if you are at all handy or know someone who is, there are many short videos on how to fix a recliner on YouTube. I have become quite an expert at using these DIY videos and have learned how to do many things and save a ton of money.

A local furniture store may also be able to help you or at least make a recommendation. Morin’s at 25 Beech St. in Lewiston has been around a long time and the people who work there are very helpful. Their number is 782-7511.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: I didn’t realize I would need the names of people who are interested in buying stamps, so could you please list those names again? Thank you so much for your help and for brightening every day in the L-A area.

— Claire, no town

ANSWER: Sure thing, Claire. Norman at Compass Coin & Jewelry at 199 Lisbon St. in Lewiston can help you. The number is 784-2885. The shop is open Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The American Philatelic Society at stamps.org or the American Stamp Dealers Association at americanstampdealer.com can also make recommendations. Their email address is asda@americanstampdealer.com. Readers, do you have more recommendations for stamp dealers in the local area?

DEAR SUN SPOTS: I know this has been in Sun Spots before but I have misplaced the names of the women who make teddy bears from old furs. Would you reprint that information please? Thank you.

— No name, no town

ANSWER: This is an oldie, but a goodie. The names I have in the Rolodex are Angie Rogers in Gray at 428-4415 and Paulette Anctil in Lewiston at claireanctil@myfairpoint.net or 784-6728. Don’t you just love all the incredible ways people find to recycle?

DEAR SUN SPOTS: I am trying to locate Dr. Ted Ross, a specialist in gynecology whose practice was in the building at 287 Main St. in Lewiston. He was connected to Central Maine Medical Center.

— Marilyn, Leeds

ANSWER: Because hospital policy doesn’t allow for the disclosure of information on past employees, perhaps one of our readers will know where Dr. Ted Ross is now practicing medicine.
