Politics has taken an unpleasant turn. It has become “them” or “us.” If this were a marriage, there would be a divorce. No union can work without discussion and compromise.
November offers voters a chance to keep those in office who work for Maine. Alternatively, it is a chance to replace those who do not hear their constituents, those that hide from constituents and those who are beholden to big money.
Angus King has a strong background in politics and business and uses those skills well. He attends meetings, asks pointed questions, studies issues. He hears people’s concerns. He caucuses with the Democrats but, as he says, “In the end, whom I caucus with is less important than whom I work with.”
Like Sen. Olympia Snowe before him, Angus King reaches out to both parties. He is extremely effective in representing Maine. Voters need to return him to the Senate.
